David Benavidez headlines a big boxing weekend

David Benavidez (22-0, 19 KOs) headlines a big weekend for boxing. Fresh off his 8th TKO win over Anthony Dirrell, Benavidez returns to his hometown of Phoenix, Ariz. to square off against former world title challenger Roamer Alexis Angulo (26-1).

Angulo has won three fights in a row since suffering his first loss of his career to Gilberto Ramirez. “I expect Angulo to come in ready. I know he just pulled an upset in his last fight (split decision win over Anthony Sims Jr.) and he’s not taking any shortcuts, but neither am I,” said Benavidez.

Carl Frampton (27-2, 15 KOs) will return to the ring against Scottish veteran Darren Traynor (16-3, 7 KOs). Frampton is coming off a dominating win over Tyler McCreary.

“I’m excited to get back in the ring, especially as I was unsure at the start of this lockdown about whether I’d get the chance to fight this year at all,” Frampton said.
