Loss to LaSalle stops two-game winning streak
George Washington’s game against LaSalle had opportunity written all over it. Coming into the game, George Washington was in 9th place in the Atlantic 10, only a game and a half out of 6th. But LaSalle’s Ed Croswell would make several big baskets down the stretch in the Explorers, 72-62 win.
George Washington’s Maceo Jack would pace the Colonials with 19. Armel Potter had 18.
Croswell led a balanced-scoring LaSalle team with 12.
The Colonials jumped out to a 10-2 lead early on before a 9-0 LaSalle run gave the Explorers their first lead of the game.
LaSalle would eventually push the lead to 39-21, their biggest of the half en route to a 39-25 lead at halftime. The Explorers would go 6-11 from the three-point line in the first half.
George Washington struggled from the floor in the first 20 minutes. The Colonials would shoot 31.6% in the half.
George Washington started the half 11-5 cutting the deficit to eight on a dunk by Jameer Nelson Jr.
Jack’s back to back three-pointer would cut LaSalle’s lead to 44-42. After an Explorer turnover, Jack was fouled shooting a three-pointer. His three made free throws would give George Washington a 45-44 lead.
LaSalle would respond with eight straight points giving them a 52-45. Potter’s two free throws pulled with Colonials to within 57-55.
With Under two minutes left LaSalle led 61-59. The Explorers would finish the game on an 11-3 run.
