Eagles Look to Bounce Back vs Navy

Eagles hopes to continue to stay in the upper echelon of the conference

American (13-12, 9-5) will hope to respond to their loss at Bucknell with a good performance against Navy. In the first meeting, the Eagles would erase a five-point deficit to beat the Mids, 62-54 in Annapolis. Jamir Harris had 19 points while Sa’eed Nelson chipped in with 13 points and 8 assists.

Nelson has had a record setting season. He started the season in seventh place all-time at AU in career scoring, and moved into third place on Feb. 15 by scoring 28 points against Bucknell. Nelson, a senior, needs just 49 points to leap fellow New Jersian Russell ‘Boo’ Bowers for the all-time lead at AU. Nelson also became the only active NCAA D-I men’s basketball player to reach 2,000 career points, 500 career rebounds, and 500 career assists.

Navy (13-12, 7-7)  limps into town having lost four of their last five but they’ve had success in DC. The Mids have defeated American in three of its last four visits to Bender Arena but this season it will be tougher. The Eagles have only lost one conference game in Tenleytown.
