DMV Hoopin’: Georgetown Look to Push Winning Streak; Mason Back in Action

Georgetown (8-3) is looking for their fifth consecutive win while George Mason gets back into action after a two-week layoff.

Georgetown will face Samford (6-7) on Saturday at Capital One. The Hoyas are coming off an 81-55 win over UMBC. Omer Yurtseven led the Hoyas with 22 points and 13 rebounds. Jamorko Pickett continues to respond from a down sophomore year, chipped in with 12.

Samford comes in on a two game losing streak.

Patriots return to action

George Mason (10-1) is going for their sixth straight win. The Patriots last played on December 7th. That night they walked away with a 68-53 win over American University.

The Patriots are off to their best start since 1983-84. A win over UMBC will give the Mason program their 800th win.

Four of Mason’s starters average double figure led by Javon Greene’s 13.4 points per game.

UMBC (6-7) is coming off a lost to Georgetown.

On paper, George Washington (5-5) vs Harvard is the best game in the DMV. Arnaldo Toro’s return from injury has been a shot in the Colonials arm. In his last outing, Toro scored 12 points and grabbed 17 rebounds.

American (4-5) welcomes Stony Brook to Bender Arena. The Eagles are coming off an 82-76 win at Mount St. Mary’s. Senior Sa’eed Nelson scored 19 points, dished 9 assists, and grabbed 7 rebounds in the win.
