VCU Basketball: Winning on and off the court

On the same day VCU beat Will Wade’s LSU Tigers, the Rams received even more good news.

Adrian Baldwin, Josh Banks, Mikeal Brown-Jones, and Jamir Watkins will be heading to the state capital to play for the Rams next season. “Each one of them comes from a successful high school program. Jamir, Ace, Mikeal and Josh are going to impact our program and help us continue the tradition of VCU Basketball,” said VCU head coach Mike Rhoades.

    • Baldwin is a four star recruit from Baltimore, MD. He was the 2019 All-Metro Player of the Year by the Baltimore Sun.
    • Banks was named SoMECK 7 4A Player of the Year by the Charlotte Observer. In 2018-19, Banks averaged 20.6 points and 5.6 rebounds per game.
    • Brown-Jones will provide the Rams with versatility. The 6′ 8″ forward attends IMG Academy in Brandenton, Fla, helping lead them to the Geico High School Nationals Championship last April.
    • Watkins averaged 18.6 points a game at Trenton Catholic in New Jersey. He’s a 45% shooter from the field while shooting 82% from the free throw line.
