American University Basketball: Nelson Leads a Season of Hope

American University’s super senior, Sa’eed Nelson, was named Patriot League Preseason Player of the Year. It’s the second straight year, Nelson has been awarded with that honor.

Nelson enters his storied career having already made his mark on the Patriot League and American University’s record books.

  • Nelson ranks in the top 30 of the Patriot League in career points, assists, and steals
  • Nelson has been selected to the All-Patriot League team in two of his three seasons at American
  • Nelson is seventh all-time on AU’s career scoring list

Nelson isn’t the only reason for optimism. With four out of their five starters back, the Eagles were chosen to finish third in the competitive Patriot League. Minnesota transfer, Jamir Harris, is eligible after sitting out last season.
