Fox Stops Brinson; Brown Stays Undefeated

Alantez Fox proved to be more than just a fill-in in his Saturday night victory over Nick Brinson. Fox would floor Brinson in the first round eventually stopping him in the sixth round.

After the early knockdown, Fox somewhat let Brinson back in the fight with rounds two and three being close. But, Fox would re-establish control by going to the body in the fourth round. From there he would dominate making sure he had enough distance to use his reach advantage.

At the beginning of the sixth round, the ringside doctor was examining Brinson so there was a sense that the end was near. Fox pounced on him early in the round landing a crushing right hook that would help lead to the stoppage.

In the night’s co-main event, Tiara Brown ran her record to 8-0 with a sixth round TKO over Angel Gladney. Brown would establish control of the fight in the first two rounds as she established her jab as a weapon. This strategy was particularly effective against Gladney’s ‘head down-charge in” approach. As the fight wore on, Brown showed her entire arsenal as she battered Gladney around the ring.

Brown was recently named DC Police Officer of the Year.

Undercard winners:

Jonathan Conde and George Harris started out the night with quick wins. Conde scored a first round knockout while Harris knocked out his opponent in the second round.

Patrick Harris was well ahead on the judges’ cards when his opponent, Anthony Woods was DQ’ed for low blows.

In the most competitive fight of the night, Jordan White would win by unanimous decision over Christian Esquivel.
