Through the Uprights: Happy New Year

Oh you didn’t think you were going to escape without bowl picks, did you?

CP and B-Dub are too busy ringing in the New Year but Mook is always on the case.

The Mookster will be picking every game ATS on New Years. Enjoy!

Outback Bowl: Mississippi State -7 vs Iowa

Usually I would say the SEC will not cover a meaningless bowl game but they’re playing Iowa. It might be close early. Heck, Iowa might have the lead in the first half the the Cow Bells will come back and cover the spread.

Pick: Mississippi State -7

Fiesta Bowl: LSU -7.5 vs UCF

UCF does nothing but chirp and claim national championships. Heck, they’ve gone back a retro claimed the 1986 National Championship. Go figure.

LSU should be motivated enough to win but might not be enough to cover.

Pick: UCF +7.5

Citrus Bowl: Penn State -6 vs Kentucky

Both teams are looking for their 10th win of the year and it’s important to both programs. Penn State would like to go three straight years with 10 years.

This pick is being based on the quarterback and quarterback alone. Trace McSorley.

Pick: Penn State -6

Rose Bowl: Ohio State -6.5 vs Washington

This will be Urban Meyer’s final game at Ohio State. Put me in the category with those who think he’ll be back in coaching in four years.

But, his retirement conveniently serves as a reason for the players to focus. After all, Meyer could’ve waited until after the game to “retire”.

Pick: Ohio State -6.5

Sugar Bowl: Georgia -12.5 vs Texas

The Dawgs have spent the last couple of days barking about how they should’ve been there instead of Notre Dame. Yapping about not making it to the playoff after choking away the Alabama tells everyone they’re not ready to blowout Texas.

Georgia will win but won’t cover.

Pick: Texas +12.5

Last Week’s Record: 4-0

Overall Record: 18-14
