DMV Hoopin: Capital City Go-Go Fall in Overtime

Final: Capital City Go-Go 111  Grand Rapids Drive 115 OT

The Capital City Go-Go grabbed their third straight victory over the Grand Rapids Drive. After being down three points after one, the Go-Go outscored the Drive in every quarter.

Grand Rapids was led by Isaiah Whitehead’s 35 points and Marcus Thornton’s 28 points.

Player of the Game: Pe’Shon Howard

Howard got off to a fast start with 14 points in the first quarter on his way to a 33 point game. He was 7-11 from the three point line including the go ahead basket with 1:04 left in regulation. His 33 points was a season high and tied his career high.

Notes:

This was Gary Payton II second game with the Go-Go. In his debut with the Go-Go, he scored 25 points and grabbed 13 rebounds against Grand Rapids. Prior to his Go-Go arrival, he was on a 10-day contract with the Washington Wizards.

Earlier this season, Payton II was with the Rio Grand Valley Vipers. He averaged 19.2 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 6.6 assists a game.
