Howard-George Washington Wrap Up

Summary:

George Washington faced Howard in a “Battle of DC” game on Friday night. Last Saturday, the Bison defeated American University 85-82. For the Colonials, they were coming off a tough loss to Valparaiso.

First Half

If you like offense the first half wasn’t a thing of beauty. Both teams struggled mightily. Some was due to good defense but, for the most part, there was a lot of questionable shot selection.

For Howard, the trio of Cole-Williams-Lott shot 2-16 in the first half. It was a myriad of easy misses and questionable shot selection.

This differed from George Washington who was just missing shots despite getting goods look out of their offense. Eventually the Colonials would start to get the shots to fall ending the half on a 16-8 run. DJ Williams would carry GW with 11 points in the half.

George Washington threw the first punch of the half pushing their halftime lead up to 13. But two of the three Bison Trio warmed up a bit. Cole and Williams shot the Bison back in it cutting the lead to two with 12:07 left.

George Washington would respond with an 8-2 run pushing the lead back up to 56-48. The Bison wouldn’t go away though cutting the lead to three on a Kyle Foster three pointer with 1:10 left.

In perhaps the biggest possession of the game, George Washington had the ball with 14.8 seconds left on the game clock and 6 seconds on the shot clock. Coming out of a timeout, Terry Nolan Jr. hit a three pointer with just 3 second left on the shot clock.
