Hoyas Open With Loyola Marymount in Jamaica Classic

Fresh off their win at Illinois, Georgetown Hoyas (3-0) begins play in the Jersey Mike’s Jamaica Classic. The Hoyas’ opponents are Loyola Marymount and South Florida.

The Hoyas have been led by senior Jessie Govan. The big man is averaging 16.7 points, 7 rebounds a game. But a lot of the excitement centers around the three freshmen. Coach Patrick Ewing is starting an all freshmen back court. James Akinjo (13.3 ppg/7 apg) and Mac McClung (8.0 ppg) have been impressive in the first three games of their career. The lesser known of the three frosh, Josh LeBlanc, has provided toughness and energy in the middle. LeBlanc averages 9.7 ppg and 6.7 rpg.

In Georgetown’s impressive win over Illinois, the three freshman combined for 45 of the Hoyas 88 points. What’s even more impressive, in the threesomes first road game, they shot a combined 19-34 from the floor.
