Ryder Cup: Friday AM Pairings and Predictions

Team USA and Team Europe are less than 24 hours away from the first shot of the Ryder Cup. Both teams have announced their pairings in the Friday morning Fourballs.

Europe USA Advantage
Rose/Rahm Match 1 Finau/Koepka Team Europe
McIlroy/Olesen Match 2 D Johnson/Fowler Team USA
Casey/Hatton Match 3 Thomas/Spieth Team USA
Molinari/Fleetwood Match 4 Woods/Reed Push

Team Europe is coming out with their big guns in Match 1 and Match 4. The Rose/Rahm team will be favored even though two time major champ, Brooks Koepka is up against them. The US Team could steal a point here if their short game is in order and Finau makes putts.

Match 2 and 3 sets up well for the Americans. Rickie Fowler has been very good in team play and is underrated in this format. He provides the US the advantage even against McIlroy. The Ryder Cup might be what Jordan Spieth needs to get out of his mini-funk. Being paired with Thomas should give them a decided advantage of the European team of Casey and Hatton.

Match 4 really leans towards Europe despite calling it a push. Tiger will need to carry the struggling Reed who, like Spieth, hopes the Ryder Cup will provide a boost. Molinari stared down Tiger at The Open and Fleetwood is playing as well as anyone in the world. A half point for the Americans would be a victory.

Prediction: USA 2.5  Team Europe 1.5
