The tennis gods gave the Nation’s Capital perfect weather for family day at the Citi Open. Residents of Washington DC and it’s surrounding areas will tell you late July can be hot and sticky but today was met with a gentle breeze, a host of qualifying matches and the much anticipated, Andy Murray Press Conference.

The three-time major champ is coming off injury and has fallen to 893rd in the world. In his press conference, he addressed coming back from injury, drug testing and the length of matches.

This is the 50th year for the tournament many remember as the Legg Mason. Back then, Andre Agassi was the featured player as the tournament serves as a tune up for the US Open.

This year’s tournament is full of high ranking players from both the ATP and WTA.

The Men’s draw features ten of the top 25 players in the world including John Isner and Kevin Anderson. Isner and Anderson had an epic five set match at Wimbledon. Anderson would prevail 26-24 in the fifth set.

The women’s draw is just as star-studded. Caroline Wozniacki, Naomi Osaka, and Sloane Stephens have all made the trip the DC.

This weekend features qualifying matches with the main draw starting on Monday.
