Return of Tiger Is Heating Up

Once again, Tiger Woods worked his way into contention only to falter down the stretch but his competitors think it’s a matter a time before he wins again.

“I mean, he’ll win sometime soon enough,” said Jordan Spieth, who played the final round alongside Woods. “His game, if I compare it to other guys that are winning golf tournaments that I’m playing with day-to-day, it’s right up there.”

That’s where we are with the best golfer of this generation. The 42 year old Woods still brings more eyes to the television than any other golfer on Tour and it’s not even close. The buzz around Tiger’s charge on Saturday and Sunday pushed golf to top of the news, even though, both the NBA and NHL is in the midst of their conference finals.

As close as Woods’ seems to be, on the weekend he faltered on the back nine when it really counted. He played it at even par after shooting a combined 10-under on the front nine on Saturday and Sunday. But it was his bogey on 14 and his double bogey on 17 that shut the door on Woods chances at a top five finish.

Woods’ confidence is sky high despite the less than stellar finish.

“I felt comfortable with every facet of my game today,” he (Woods) said. “Everything felt good. I had control, I was hitting it high, low, right, left, didn’t matter what it was. I felt like I had control of it today.”

The T11 is yet another step in the right direction for Woods. Not only does it appear like Woods is close to winning again but it also appears that the Tour will stay in the news throughout the summer. When Woods is in contention, everyone eats.
