George Mason Scores Big Win over Dayton

George Mason blew open a close game in the second half on their way to an 85-67 win over Dayton.

Tonight was an important game for both George Mason and Dayton. They sat tied for eighth, along with St. Joe’s, but just a game and a half out of the all important fourth spot. The top four spots earns the right to skip the first two days of the tournament.

Dayton got off to a fast start racing out to an early 9-2 lead. But George Mason responded with a 12-5 run of their own tying the game at 14. Both teams would go back in the half until last 3:33. George Mason would end the half on an 11-2 to end the half with a 36-27 lead.

The Patriots were led in the first half by Otis Livingston II’s 10 points and George Calixte’s 8 points and 5 rebounds. Josh Cunningham had 10 points and 4 rebounds for the Flyers.

Mason continued the momentum starting the second half on a 21-12 run eventually leading by as much as 24. Livingston II was unstoppable scoring in every way imaginable. He scored 19 points on 6-7 including 5-5 (check final numbers) and 2-2 from the free throw in the half.

Livingston II ended the game with 29 points on 10-15 shooting (7-9 from the 3 point line). Darrell Davis led the Flyers with 19 points.
