Under the Shell: Towson

The Terps come into their home opener with plenty of momentum and excitement after their upset of Texas. It was the first time in seven seasons, the Terps beat a ranked opponent. The win came at a price. Starting quarterback, Tyrrell Pigrome, tore his ACL and will be out for the season. Prior to the injury, Pigrome was 9-12 for 175 yards and 2 touchdowns. He ran for 64 yards with a touchdown on the ground.

In steps true freshman, Kasim Hill. Hill went 3-3 for 40 yards passing. He also rushed for 14 yards and a touchdown. His touchdown was a big one. With the lead cut to three, Hill led the Terps on a 7 play 52 yard drive, capped off by 3 yard touchdown run. The offense didn’t miss a beat under Hill. Hill’s confidence was something he’s shown since he came to College Park.

“Yeah, there wasn’t an ounce of doubt [in Kasim]. I mean, that’s how he’s been since the day he got here. It’s just him. He’s got that way about him, he’s got that “it” factor about him, for sure.” Coach DJ Durkin

The Terps will take a step down to face FCS opponent, Towson. The Tigers are coming off a 10-0 win Morgan State. The defense was the story with three interceptions in the first half. The run defense wasn’t bad either. Morgan State could only manage 1.3 yards per carry.

If the Terps run the ball this week like they did last week, this game could be uneventful in a good way. The Terps are a lot more talented than Morgan State and that should show on Saturday.
