15th Round: Christian Carto Cruises

The city of Philadelphia got a treat last night with King’s Promotions card at the 2300 Arena. The Carlos Rosario-Jerome Conquest and Christian Carto-Alonso Melendez fight had plenty of crowd pleasing moments.

Rosario-Conquest took one round to feel each other out before the fireworks began. Conquest looked to take over the bout in the second round. He continually beat Rosario to the punch whether he was leading the action or counter punching. Rosario had problems with Conquest’s movement, constantly following him around the ring.

In the latter part of the third round, it seemed that Rosario starting finding ways to deal with the moment and started landing with more frequency. This carried over to the fourth round, which could’ve been Rosario’s best round but then in the 5th Conquest assumed control.

He knocked down Rosario in the round with a clean right hand. After that the fight got a little murky as it appeared that Rosario let the frustration get the best of him with an obvious low blow. After the brief deal the fireworks resumed as both fighters landed very good punches and there were a lot of two way exchanges.

In the end, all three judges had the fight for Conquest 78-73 and 77-74 (twice).

In the night’s main event, Christian Carto continued to impress and he dominated Alonso Melendez from beginning to end. Carto’s attack included several three punch combinations, two to the body followed by an uppercut.

Melendez had his moments but he mainly threw one punch at a time while Carto continuously threw combinations. All three judges scored the fight for Carto 80-72.
