Patriot League Notebook: First Round in the Books

The opening night of the Patriot League tournament saw both higher seeds win on their home floor. Army defeated American 74-58 and Loyola (MD) upended Lafayette 67-64.

In the Black Knights victory, sophomore Jordan Fox scored 23 points on an efficient 7-11 shooting. Six second half three pointers helped Army go from a 1 point halftime lead to a 16 point victory.

Loyola (MD) was met by a bigger challenge than Army. Lafayette’s Matt Klinewski scored 15 points and grabbed 6 rebounds and the Leopards had a 5 point lead at the half. In the second half, the Greyhounds charged back and took the lead for good with 2:48 left. They were led by Jarred Jones’ 21 points and Cam Gregory’s double-double (11 points, 11 rebounds).

Patriot League Quarterfinals will be played on Thursday.
