Dmitry Bivol Headlines ShoBox: The New Generation Card

Dmitry Bivol (9-0, 7 KOs) will defend his Interim WBA Lightweight Title against Samuel Clarkson on April 14th’s ShoBox: The New Generation card. The undefeated Russian is known for his aggressive style established in a very successful amateur career.

“It’s great that this is main event because that motivates me.  Clarkson is a good defensive fighter.  He can be aggressive and I expect this to be a tough fight, said Bivol, I look forward to introducing myself to American fans with a great performance, and I plan to defend my title with an exciting victory.”

In his fight, he won by TKO over Robert Berridge.

Clarkson (19-3) has won 9 fights in a row. During that streak he’s stopped 6 opponents but he’s also had 2 split decisions. His last loss came in 2014 to Jesse Hart.

In the co-feature, Juan Ruiz will face off against Malik Hawkins. Ruiz (18-0) has won 3 of his last 4 fights by TKO. As an amateur, Ruiz was 212-8. Hawkins also had an impressive amateur record (92-8) and won a Bronze Medal at the 2012 Junior Olympics. “This is a huge chance for me to showcase my skills and show I belong among the best in the welterweight division,” Hawkins said. “There’s nothing he can bring I haven’t seen, and I plan on making him fight my fight.
