Big Ten Tourney: Spartan March

Like their brethren, Michigan, Michigan State wasted no time getting in front of their opponent.

The Spartans bludgeoned Penn State in the paint in the first, 26-12. Mile Bridges led the way with 10 points in the half. When Michigan State wasn’t scoring inside, they were shooting the 3 pointers at a 50% clip. They were 5-10 from the three-point line as they shot 56% overall in the half. The Spartans also dominated on the boards 26-12. That played a big role in their 14-0 lead in fast break points.

On the other side, Penn State struggled in the half. They shot 24.2% in the half. Payton Banks, Tony Carr and Lamar Stevens combined to shoot 4-24 in the half.

Michigan State took an 18 point lead in the second half and extended it to over 20 points. Though neither team shot above 40% in the half, the Spartans stayed in control and were never threatened.

Nick Ward and Miles Bridges led the team with 15 points a piece.

Michigan State’s next opponent is Minnesota.
