Patriot League Notebook: Mids Making A Charge

Navy comes into tonight’s tilt at American with a 5 game winning streak in tow. What might be the most impressive part of the streak is that 3 of the 5 have come on the road. The Mids, along with three other teams, are tied for second in the Patriot League just two games behind Bucknell.

Junior guard, Shawn Anderson, is Navy’s leading scorer at 12.4 points a game and is coming off a 30 point performance in the win over Army. In the overtime win over Army, the Middies had 3 players score over 20 points in the same game for the first time since 1985. Along with Anderson, Bryce Dulin (21 points) and Hasan Abdullah (21 points) eclipsed the 20 point mark.

Not only is Abdullah capable of scoring, he’s presence on defense. He has 41 total steals (25th in the nation) and is 30th in the nation in average steals per game at 2.05.

Despite their loss to Holy Cross, all wasn’t bad for American. Against the Crusaders they shot 50% from the floor. Sophomore Delante Jones led the Eagles in scoring with 18. Unfortunately, they were undone by 23 turnovers.
