Power 5: Kentucky Rises To The Top

  1. Kentucky (4-0) – The Wildcats have won every game by double digits including a 21 point win over Michigan State. Isaiah Briscoe has gotten off to a great start averaging 18 points ago. But, as you would expect, Kentucky’s freshmen were ready when the lights turned on. Malik Monk is pouring in almost 16 points per game and De’Aaron Fox is scoring 15 points and dishing out almost 7 assists again. And don’t forget about Edrice Adebayo and his 9.3 points, 6.3 rebounds per game. The Wildcats should cruise up to the December 3rd showdown with UCLA.
  2. Villanova (5-0) – The “other” Wildcats are the defending National Champions and are playing like it. Preseason Big East Player of the Year, Jason Hart, dominated a much improved Wake Forest, scoring 30 points in Villanova’s 19 point win. The Wildcats are 2nd in Adjusted Offense and 8th in Adjusted Defense.
  3. North Carolina (4-0) – Tar Heels will go as far as their 3 point shooting and rebounding margin takes them. This should be a shock and Coach Roy Williams’ team will pick up the pace at every opportunity. As the Heels head to Hawai’i, they will look to improve on their Turnover % (172nd in the Nation). Freshman Tony Bradley has fit it rather nicely around the Heels’ veterans. Bradley posted 10 points and 12 rebounds against Hawai’I and has scored in double digits in each game.
  4. Indiana (3-0) – The Hoosiers debut in the Power 5 at 4. They handed Kansas its one loss and have cruised to wins over UMass Lowell and Liberty. James Blackmon Jr. has been the alpha dog in Bloomington. He’s scored over 20 points in their first three games including 26 in the Kansas game. The Hoosiers will cruise until their home game against North Carolina on November 30th.
  5. Kansas (2-1) – The Jayhawks victory over Duke bounced the Blue Devils out of the Power 5. Frank Mason III and Josh Jackson are taking turns making highlight producing plays while Devonte’ Graham is second on the team in scoring. The Jayhawks have already played two blue bloods but their schedule lightens up for little while before conference season begins.
